Vince Van Patten is one of Hollywood’s most prominent stars coming from the world of poker. He has played in some of the biggest poker cash games and tournaments and therefore earned the nick name, “King of the Hollywood Home Games”. Vince is also the host and commentator for the international TV show World Poker Tour, but this man of many talents also has a remarkable career a producer, actor, director and a former tennis professional. Vince was introduced to the world of television at the age of nine and followed through with another 30 commercials or so, before he got a role in a TV series named Arnie. Vince’s career as a child actor blossomed from there. In the 70’s, Vince guest-starred in 40 TV shows, including Apple’s Way and the Six Million Dollar Man. The true passion of life was not television, however. He grew up in a competitive environment and acquired some serious tennis skills. Despite a rather shaky career at first, Vince never gave up and kept on struggling until he was ranked top 30 among the professional tennis players in the whole world. The top of his career came in 1981 when he beat the first-, fourth- and fifth-seeded world players, including John McEnroe. Vince Van Patten retired from tennis in 1986. A few years after leaving the world of tennis, Vince decided to return to the motion pictures. The world saw him in once again in 1995 in “the Break”, distributed by Trimark Pictures. Today, Vince is deeply involved in the poker community. He is a true icon of poker and has become more famous than ever, thanks to his role as a commentator at the WPT show. Vince’s co-commentator, Mike Sexton, also a successful poker player, fills out the role of a poker professor. Vince, on the other hand, has a talent for catchy lines and does many of them too. |
